THE LAST of THE LAST (don’t make any long-range plans)

Malachi 3:17-18 “And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son and serveth him.
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.”

Revelation 6:10-11 “and they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.”

This post must begin with two links. The first is the February, 2011 link to the Last Trumpet Newsletter. The second is to a message given by the late David J Meyer (it still seems strange to refer to him as “the late”) in March of 2010.

This message, “The Wise and the Wicked,” was preached primarily from the twelth chapter of Daniel and touches heavily on the saints living in the final days before the return of Jesus. During the afternoon of February 4, I listened to this for the first time. During the course of the message, Pastor Meyer makes a statement that has become the thrust of my cogitation ever since.

“A lot of people lived before us, and almost everybody who’se going to be in heaven is already there. Because this generation is a generation of the damned. I know we don’t like to hear that, but there are very very few people left. It’s as it was in the days of Sodom; as it was in the days of Noah; just a remnant and it’s getting worse all the time.”

He went on to discuss the children of Abraham (that would be anyone who is born of the Spirit) and the promise that God made to him; how his seed would be as the stars of heaven and as the sand of the sea. (Genesis 15:5, genesis 22:17, etc) There is a tremendous cloud of witnesses on the other side that’s being added to daily. saints from every tribe and generation. those of like faith who, despite circumstances or threatenings, maintained the testiony of Jesus Christ. Their testimonies are as diverse as their lives were; and yet each story is the same. Each one arrived at a place of sincere repentance and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. each one awakened on one of their alloted mornings, lost and headed for hell, but went to bed that evening with their name recorded in the Lambs book of life.

This observation is without controversy; the majority of our brethren are already in the presence of Jesus. The next statement; found in the same message, is equally profound:

“The multitudes; the millions; they’re already there. We’re just the last few apples on the tree. Just the last few berries on the bush. Sometimes those are the ones at the top, that need to get shaken to bring them down.”

With only a handful of words, these statements  paint a detailed picture concerning the lateness of the hour, the vastness of the great falling away, the division between the righteous and the wicked, and how quickly prophetic fulfillment is transpiring. The great shaking is beinning to gain momentum and only those who are fully persueded will stand in the hour of temptation. We are not going to be succeeded by an unlimited number of future generations. I imagine that, in the Lambs book of life, our names appear near the bottom of the last page. There will arrive a moment, when the final entry will be added and the ledger complete. There will come a time when the door is shut and those standing outside will be without remedy.

Due to the constraints of time, I was unable to listen to the final 12 minutes or so of the message. I went into work, and a world that already seems alien and distant became even more so. A heart that  desires to depart this realm and take up it’s position amongst the great cloud of witnesses, found nobody in the immediate vicinity who shared in this desire.  It seems that, while many profess to know God, very few truly hunger to be there and not here. Everyones busy with their own agenda while, hour by hour, time slips away. They’ll give the Lord a timeslot and a percentage, however, the storylines of this world dominate their thoughts and spill into their conversation.

“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.”

It is time to be fully watching. To lay aside every weight and hinderance and be about our Fathers business in these waning moments. To continually examine ourselves; ensuring that our affections are on things above and that we’re not harboring seemingly harmless lusts which could be our undoing in the hour of temptation. To be in prayer continually; staying in fellowship with our Savior, who has promised to be with us always; even unto the end of the world. To speak often with likeminded saints (Malachi 3:16.) and encourage each other as we see these things approaching. (this is why I’m still active in this venue; despite knowing what it’s being used for)

And now that I’ve been up most of the night, it’s time to be going. Tomorrow looks to be a day filled with activity; even before reporting to work in the afternoon. May we all be sober and watching unto prayer.

Blessings always in Jesus name.

Genesis 15:5-6 “And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”

Revelation 7:9-10 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.”

  1. The Lord has had me write several pieces lately too about the lateness of the hour and the sleeping body of Christ. God Bless you for your faithfulness to share what He has burdened your heart to share! There are still a few of us waiting with baited breathe for His soon arrival! See you in the air!

  2. Hi Linda. Thank you for taking time to stop by. It’s always encouraging to hear from those who are watching and have set their affections on things above. I’ll stop by when I can.

    Blessings always in jesus name.

  3. Sobering…….my heart is set on Jesus Christ. My thoughts have been on that parable of the 10 virgins and the ones who had the oil. A time is coming when those with the oil will no longer be concerned with the ones without…..they’ll just turn and walk toward the Lord …….without looking back………….

  4. Hi Eileen. You have touched on something that I think about much. I have many people whom I love dearly, but are not saved. I pray for them, actively seek opportunities to witness and be a city set on a hill, and long for their eternal well-being. But we must look to Jesus; regardless of the choices that others make.

Thanks so much for bringing this up. I fear that most of us don’t fully understands what this will entail. Blessings always in Jesus name.

  5. GOD'S GIRL!! Says:

Oh how I soo long for the day I will leave this world behind! This is NOT my home. I look around and see others so content. Sometimes I feel like an “alien”. Like I don’t fit in anymore. How I long to live in a sinless enviroment. Can you just imagine what that will be like? NO MORE SINFUL WORLD? One day soon WE WILL KNOW! Oh Glory be! What a wonderful, wonderful day that will be!

This world is just soo immoral. I just don’t know how much longer children can be raised in this day and time. Without a Christian home for a safe haven…there is NO shelter from the storm but thru the precious blood of Jesus! My heart is troubled by the kids living in these last days. How can they see or know who Jesus is when the home they have is ungodly? There is soo much influence and temptation among our children. So much peer pressure. Just the tv; the shows teaches the kids such immorality. God, please send Your Son Jesus to come and take us to our Heavenly Home.

Oh Jesus, please come rescue the perishing in this sinful world. I just can not imagine what our brothers and sisters around the world have to face every minute of the day. Their faith is truly tested. We only ‘think’ we are soo tired of this world. They live thru persecution each day. Jesus please shield and cover them all with Your armour of protection.

    GOD’S GIRL!!

  6. Good morning Gods Girl. The prayer for protection for these precious ones is most needful. This world has become unfathomably dark and the enemy rushes in from every format. It’s time of great trial and separation between those who love Jesus and those who choose to cling to this world.

May we all be watching, discerning, and ensuring that our affections are on things above. Thanks so much for stopping by.

    Blessings always in Jesus name.
